New at DuCAP: Finding My Voice

I recently joined DuCAP, and even though I’ve only attended a few meetings so far, it has already become a place I hold in high regard. Joining a new organization can sometimes feel nerve-wracking, especially when it involves leadership and public engagement. But from day one, DuCAP has made me feel welcome, and it’s easy to feel like I belong.
Right from my first meeting, I noticed how supportive and organized everything is. The leadership team fosters a culture where people are encouraged to share their ideas, express themselves, and actively contribute to the work we do. Myeisha McClinton has been especially kind and helpful, guiding me through a new setting while making me feel comfortable and confident.

The Leadership Group is what truly makes DuCAP feel complete. The passion, energy, and ideas everyone brings to the table make it clear that we are all working toward something bigger together. Listening to each other and collaborating has already challenged me to think bigger and take action in new ways.
I decided to join DuCAP because I am passionate about giving young people a voice, particularly in communities where teens are often spoken about instead of spoken to. Being part of DuCAP is a meaningful way to help turn that around.
Even after only a few meetings, I already feel confident expressing my ideas and engaging with others in the group. That sense of confidence is something I deeply appreciate. While I know I am just beginning my journey with DuCAP, I am grateful to be part of a community that values respect, partnership, and meaningful change.
