Job Description

The Community Engagement Director is responsible for organizing, supporting, and strengthening local groups of volunteers, including youth-driven groups and adult support groups. This role centers on engaging both youth and adult volunteers in the building and direction of meaningful, youth-centered opportunities. While many initiatives are led locally, DuCAP provides professional guidance and support where additional structure or coordination is needed.

About the Company

DuPage County Area Project (DuCAP) is a community-based nonprofit working across seven communities in DuPage and Will counties. We partner with neighborhoods, schools, and local leaders to support the youth and families through programs rooted in connection and collaboration.

At DuCAP, youth take the lead in shaping programs and opportunities that matter to them, while adults provide guidance, stability, and support. This teen-led, adult-supported approach helps ensure programs are responsive, inclusive, and grounded in the needs of each community.

  • 3–7 years of experience in fundraising, event management, and team oversight

  • Demonstrated experience working with youth, preferably in community-based or nonprofit settings

  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills

  • Experience engaging volunteers and supporting collaborative, team-based work

  • Ability to work across diverse communities and adapt to varying local needs

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and support local youth-led groups and adult support teams

  • Build and maintain relationships with community members, schools, and local partners

  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of youth programs and community activities

  • Encourage collaboration between youth leaders and adult volunteers

  • Provide guidance and oversight to ensure programs align with DuCAP’s mission and values

  • Identify community needs and recommend additional support or resources when appropriate

  • Collaborate with DuCAP leadership and staff to strengthen community-based efforts
